Airsoft team leadership and Organization Day 2
Command Words.

When a leader speaks they will use words and phrases that demand respect. The command words give a sense of urgency and are easy to understand. Use of words deemed not of the command style will cause confusion and delay among team mates and are forbidden. Below is the basic list of terms for Airsoft team leaders.

Command words.

YOU (or persons name or position) – “SMITH load that kit” is better than “somebody load that kit” this will to be covered in the future as its is very important.

The Advance class.
To further reduce time needed to convey your message shorten your commands.
“SMITH MOVE NOW” (while pointing to the location)
or
“SMITH HERE NOW”

Get the idea? The words listed are the basics. Command words are short simple words you will use to command your Airsoft Club.

Non command words that are not used. Note the following words that are missing for a reason. Please, would, could, should. They leave the order open for interpretation both in time to complete and urgency. Also you will find “Maggot” doesn’t translate well into the Airsoft world.

“please could someone move up here” in no way is a command, its a request. A request that will be ignored. When you give commands, give them concisely and with purpose. The reason for this isn’t to boss people around, you have a Airsoft Club to lead and game play is fast. Anything you can do to speed your team up and “influence human behavior so as to accomplish a mission in the manner so desired by the leader” (that’s day one airsoft leadership) is going to give you the advantage,

One trick for yelling for long periods of time is to use your gut, not your throat. Think of the Marines “Oorah”. At one time it was called using your balls. Make your commands on the field as short as possible with the information easily understood. Command words take practice. Always find ways to pass along your intent in the shortest words possible.
