This week Regiment Airsoft will cover airsoft mortars, cannons and howitzers, or airsoft artillery for short. All types including the home built awesomeness that is out there.
Many of the artillery pieces out on the field are either static pieces, deactivated or home built. Lots of creative people out there.

Only problem with using them on the playing field is they are to big, noisy and a little dangerous for field play.
So I don’t get a lecture from a retired Arty friend of mine. Here is an explanation between the different types of artillery out there, Mortars, cannons and howitzers .
Mortars.
Lob a projectile in a high arc at a low velocity, This design cuts down on cost, size and weight. Portability is the main benefit of this equipment.
Cannons
Fire shells line of site at high velocity targeting a object directly.
howitzers
Fire either high or low arcs and are the equipment you think of when an Artillery gun comes to mind.
… and yes Artillery is called a GUN in a generic sense.
