Novelty Ammo
First the novelty balls that are fun to shoot but useless on the game field. Already covered are the paint filled and marking balls.

Paint filled airsoft balls, here is a video that demonstrates the balls. The main reason for posting the vid is to bring up the point of ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES!!!!!, always.
Super bounce balls. These airsoft balls are harder to find these days but they are very fun. Super bounce balls, airsoft sized. Here is a video of regular balls in super slow motion. Nothing to do with airsoft, just cool.
Exploding balls. You fire them and they flash. Simple enough, also fun and cool. yet another informational video

BB’s, Ball Bearings , Metallic. Ceramic and Silica
Multiple types of ammo not to use in game play, unsafe and can cause serious harm to other people. All are known to break masks. If you play around with these
types of ammo make sure of two things before hitting the playing field again. You have completely emptied magazine AND rifle before going to the field.
Keep you metal ammo completely separate from your regular game ammo, not just a separate bag, but en entirely different box. Ensure your magazine and gun are
competently empty. Do this simple safety check, load gun and magazine you used with the dangerous ammo, point in safe direction and pull trigger on your AEG till
empty, keep held down for a second longer. When you hit the field again go to the range and fire a mag more PLASTIC/BIODEGRADABLE threw your gun just to be sure.
Yes be that paranoid.
If you are using your airsoft for target shooting and plan on only using metal BB’s, a standard off the shelf isn’t powerful enough to deal with the heavier weights.
You will need to up grade your equipment to the highest possible in regards to springs and motors to get the biggest benefit from this ammo.
Special mention, BBBDimplex Airsoft balls that look like miniture golf balls, claim is they work better than a HOP UP system.
