Airsoft high capacity magazines

AIRSOFT HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES day 1, the basics

Airsoft high capacity magazines range from 160 balls on the low end to several thousand on the high end. As already stated the airsoft magazines you carry has nothing to do with the time of the month and has everything to do with the type of game you are playing.

Standard magazines for scenario and re enactments games, hi caps for regular game play, its that simple.

There are three styles of airsoft high capacity magazines. Traditional box style hi capacity magazine, dual magazines and drum magazines. The feeding system for the magazines is either manual with a internal gear to wind up or automatic which has and internal feeding mechanism which is motor driven.

Box magazines look like traditional mags however the internals are completely different. The magazines are constructed with a large internal hopper and feeding system. They range from about 160 balls to over 300. Six hundred is common with larger magazines like the AK47.
My current favorite CQB rifle the AK47 SPETSNAZ, a shortened AK with no stock, only a sling clip and a 600 round magazine. spray and prey to the extreme.

Dual magazines look similar to two standard magazines that have been joined together with a dual magazine clamp. The major difference is the magazines are normally constructed not to come apart and many have a dummy round on the side that is outside the rifle.

Drum magazines are manufactured to mimic the look of real drum mags. Light machine guns have box style available. Rifles have both the round drum or snail style available.

One question you may have is why would manufacturers build a hundred round airsoft magazine when three hundred are out there, and why would you buy one.
The reason is to do with the internal feeding system. Some systems are more reliable than others. Some styles are more convenient to use. The internals will
be covered tomorrow.
